Golem has been around for a while now but Fresh Off The Boat is one of their first albums to get some exposure. They like to think of themselves as the punks of Klezmer music but really it isn't a far cry from what you would expect from young jews. And really, their music isn't a far cry from fellow jews, the Klezmatics, probably the most famous Klezmer band. And as expected, most of the sound is along the gypsy lines of things. Jewish vocals etc lead the way as well as some fantastic musicianship displayed on a variety of traditional instruments. Golem will easily appeal to any fans of gypsy music, new and old. The breathe a breath of fresh air into the genre. I would say that their live show might be somewhat of a sight. Keep an eye out.
