The Mad Caddies still get lumped into the Ska-Core category even though they have gone away from that with this last record. The horns are still there but they are lacking the ska guitar and the styles associated with ska. What you can expect with Rock The Plank is a great diverse melodic punk outing. The Mad Caddies seem to have gained a bit more edge than they have previously had. Some tracks are extremely accessible such as “Chevy Novacaine which could easily get played alongside Blink 182 any day. The Caddies still hold their own though with killer tracks like “Booze Cruise and “B-Side. They are some of the best melodic punk songs ala Fat Wreck Chords style to come out in a long time. They can have a blast too as is shown on the closing Polka / Sea Shanty “All American Badass. The Mad Caddies have totally improved and expanded beyond the Ska band limitations.
