My editor/head honcho, Dennis, contacted me through email and asked me if I could review this. I decided I'd delve into the challenge. The challenge: Lions in the Street's digital EP, Cat Got Your Tongue. The appropriate title should have been "Cliched, Generic Kitty." This entire EP was disgustingly similar to what plagues our radiowaves today, Jet. Uncomplicated drumming, sleepy guitars, and fingernails-on-a-chalkboard vocals don't entice me to repeat a listen, they just entice me to delete, delete, delete this download. The similarities to southern rock are astonishing and not all together bad. But sometimes, you feel as if certain parts are almost being directly stolen and you get the feeling that you've heard a certain rhythm or vocal pattern before--it's kinda haunting. Now, if you are a fan of the 70s and/or Jet, this is right up your alley. Otherwise, avoid this at all costs.
