The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are another story of a big underground band getting a chance at the bigtime on a major label. While lasting more than a lot of bands that get this opportunity, they refused to do what the label wanted resulting in a return to the independents. This time around Dicky Barrett and his crew find themselves on Side One Dummy, a very good home for the Bosstones. The label respects what the band does and doesn't try to interfer. While the band has moved forward in many aspects, it's ironic that the album that Jackknife to a Swan most resembles is 1994's awesome Question The Answers. This album is a fun album that is sure to turn heads. While many people may be of the impression that Ska-core has had it's day and Mighty Mighty Bosstones are all washed up but after listening to this album you may change your mind on this one. Any Bosstone fan will appreciate the qualities present here but for people looking for a dose of the 'Tones, you might do better by checking out the multi-million selling Let's Face It. And if you get the chance to see Dicky's band live, make sure and do so. You won't be disappointed with their high energy set.
