98 Mute - Slow Motion Riot
98 Mute is one of those bands that at first listen they don't sound like anything special. Albeit they do alot of borrowing of ideas and riffs but then again who really doesn't in the punk world. The thing with 98 Mute is their anthemic strong songs that I would imagine their truest fans shout out at all their concerts (like I recently witnessed Dropkick Murphys do). Produced by longtime friend Fletcher Dragge (Pennywise guitarist) the album acheives a sonic heavy guitar sound. Approaching many different political topics, as punk bands do so well, they shout out their lyrics and hammer on their instruments in a way that is very infectious. The more listens to Slow Motion Riot revealed more merits. Although not an original band they still know how to do the punk thing and have learned from some great bands.
