RecommendI remember very clearly the first time I heard Operation Ivy. They were so original and different. I don't think Lint (Tim Armstrong later of Rancid) would ever have guessed the impact that his punk/ska outfit would ever have. Only around for a short period (1987-89) Operation Ivy managed to steal riffs and ideas from The Specials, The Clash as well as Madness. They did it with aggression too. They spawned classic punk ska tracks such as "Sound System", "Knowledge" (Buddies Green Day covered this one), and "Room Without A Window". After Operation Ivy dissolved Armstrong and bassist Matt McCall formed the less ska - more punk Rancid to go on to be even more influencial.

I checked into it to find out where I got Matt McCall from and sure enough, Matt was credited as Matt McCall on this album.

I just wanted to add a few things, sorry Dennis! Matt's real name is Matt Freeman.In 1989 after two years, and 185 shows, including their infamous laundromat show, and their show in the middle of nowhere where one person turned up, Operation Ivy called it quits.
