RecommendGreat Lakes make smart, jangly pop, the kind that helps you feel good without bullshitting you. There are plenty of overtones of Kinks-type sadness here, but the light shines through every time. There is a nice mellow psych vibe working too, esp. on the Zombies cover “This Will Be Our Year.” “The Pinks and Purples” rocks and menaces; “Farther” and the country tinged “Eagle and Swan” show the band willing to take small chances for large payoffs. “Horses Wings” is a monster jam that summarizes all you need to know to love this band. Here, disjointed melodies and abrupt changes give the song, and the band, an opportunity to sail into the mystic. More often than not on Diamond Times, they do.

No clue on the "Try if you like" nor the band... youre educating, and Ill be on the lookout for this as well. Nice round Mike!
