I haven't checked out Tahiti 80 since Puzzle, released in 2000. Back then I remember this album being a very good example of modern pop music with some pretty fun dance grooves. Now Tahiti 80 has made an interesting move. They have signed to The Militia Group in North America, a label known for it's emo acts, not pop bands. That's between them. Anyway, Fosbury is a very fun release starting out with the huge pop track "Big Day". The Parisian group manages to pull in old school pop sounds with a bit of a disco/dance vibe. This is very apparent on the lovely "Changes". It's got a gentle beat going but just enough to get your head nodding and maybe your feet shuffling. There is a very cool duet with long-forgotten 70s soul singer Linda Lewis, it's called "Your Love Shines". Vocalist Xavier Boyer's fantastic falsetto is the driving force behind Tahiti 80 and his voice on Fosbury is no exception. Oh, and the band is no slouch either. There are some things here that Jamiroquai could borrow and become relevant again. This is the sort of album that you will come back to time and time again in order to get a dose of sunshine-happy music. On the Militia Group release there is also a Bonus EP with 4 extra songs. "Give It Away", "Happy Together", "Fallen Down", and "Changes (Jaga Jazzist Remix)". Might be worth tracking down for the Europeans who have a different version.
