Not to be confused with the hair rock classic Long Cold Winter, Creeper Lagoon (yes, they still are Creeper Lagoon despite the plan to change names) have finally finished their latest opus, Long Dry Cold. It was hard to find too, on the obscure Neglektra label. The band almost called it quits after Ian Sefchik's drug battle. So Sharky Laguna ended up putting together a new band and decided to keep the name. I managed to tracked down the album and have been listening to it for a couple of months and have become quite enamored with it. I need to start of by saying Long Dry Cold is far from the best Creeper Lagoon output but it is still better than a lot of crap out there right now. This album is much more trippy than most of their past output. On "Nothing As It's Going To Be" I totally felt like I was hallucinating but the strange thing is that it's probably the most beautiful song on the album. Sharkey takes on most of the vocals and does quite a good job even though he admits to not being a great singer. Rachel Lastimosa takes on the vocal duties on a couple songs and does a great job.
Take Back The Universe is probably still my favorite of Creeper Lagoon's but Long Dry Cold is going to end up a close second. Hopefully they won't take as long between albums this time around.
