River City High moves into position to run with some of the hottest pop / punk bands this side of Jimmy Eat World. They are a band that relies high on melodies and harmonies but aren’t afraid to rock out and kick up some dirt. River City High has been mutating for a couple of years before finalizing their line-up. They have released a couple of EP’s and now they get set to unleash their debut album on Big Wheel Recreation and Doghouse Records. Their sound is that of a mature punk band that, as stated previously, incorporates very catchy melodies and harmonies, not to mention killer songwriting. I would even venture out and call their sound true pop with their welcoming vocals and fun guitar licks. One of my favorite lyrics is on “Just Wonderin’ where the vocalist asks “Should I wear tight pants like Jimmy Page. They have fun while providing old and new fans with some great music to listen to. River City High’s rock and roll sound is very original in a world of copycats and imitators.
