After seeing many a good band compared to Rye Coalition, I decided to chance it and buy The Lipstick Game. I was not ready for what lay ahead of me. Rye Coalition play a noisy style of post-hardcore that rivals Fugazi for scheer intensity. With the opening track "The Prosthetic Aesthetic", the band just hints at what's ahead. Rye Coalition are a bit abrasive but that's what makes them stand out; abrasive and melodic in the same breath. Ralph Cuseglio's vocals are a dead ringer for Ian MacKaye's of Fugazi only you can tell that Ralph is a little more suave in his delivery. A cross between Fugazi and At The Drive-In. They are a rock band with a total punk attitude, spitting out lyrics and cool guitar riffs, all backed by a killer bass line; groovy but still angry. This is the kind of powerful music that the rock world is missing today.
