RecommendIt’s not very often that I am as taken by hardcore punk as I was with Smunks For You. This four piece is a very talented and well rounded band that deserves to be recognized. They start out the album with a excerpt from 1984 and sandwiches it at the end with another quote. The music is very intense and they manage to incorporate all that is good in both hardcore and punk. Shmunks For You blend melodicism with intense fury that very few bands can do. Guitars are chunky and lyrics are both spit out in anger and sung in a more controlled fashion. Some tracks have the dual lyrics that many bands in this genre are starting to use. This makes for a nice happy medium with one angry vocalist and one who actually sings. Shmunks has a very big future ahead of them. Too bad they couldn’t have come up with a different name though.
