RecommendHallelujah! Finally, the perfect blend of soft, backwoods ballads and good-ol’ indie rocking! Brooklyn’s Dirty on Purpose adapts a summer theme for their sophomore releases, and rightfully so. Songs such as "Your Summer Dress" and "Light Pollution" capture the warmth and youthful spirit of the season, all while adding an optimistically bleak lyrical touch ("If you were a friend / You'd let them know that / We just couldn't stand / To stay here anymore"). Comforting and touching, the vocals are a mix of both female, male, melancholy, na, ambitious, and regretful tones, and they are the perfect addition to the soft ballad-esque instrumentals. Dirty on Purpose shows off a further extent to their musical might in the instrumental "Monument," clocking in at just over four minutes of pure indie-rock energy. "Hallelujah Sirens" wraps together warm youthful themes and vocals with the beast (and most subtle) indie instrumentals you could find. If you can get past the second-rate-porn-film name, you’ll find a cache of sonic treasures. Hallelujah indeed.
