If you wanted God to sing in your ear, it would probably sound like Joshua Benash's voice with Robert Pycior playing the elctric violin. Sure, Yellowcard started it, but Yellowcard is horrible and this band is spectacular. Take "Says My Doctor," for example. The Scotland-esque intro really builds the anticipation and then you hear the voice Joshua Benash. He sounds like he sings from in his throat and has a very calm and calculated scream when he is trying to put emphasis on the essential parts. Suddenly, he calms his voice even more and sings with a very soft yet powerful voice.
"College Film," easily the best song on the album, is very poppy song but with a sound that reminds you of Sister Act, which could be construed as an insult, but I like the movie, so whatever. It starts off with an intricate little sticks tapping like he is juggling and he dropped them or something and then picks up and carries to the end of the score where again, Joshua Benash's throaty but calm voice carries you the next song, "Drifts and Pulls."
"Drifts and Pulls" starts off as a very slow and mellow song but the drums suddenly clash in the background and guitars suddenly cut the air and it's just amazing. The whole thing. Amazing.
