After their 4 album career on the punk powerhouse label, Epitaph, Voodoo Glow Skulls make their move to the more hardcore focused Victory Records. The Glow Skulls have been making their blend of punk, metal, ska, and Latino music for over 13 years and show no signs of slowing down. Steady As She Goes is just as intense as any of their past released but one can sense a bit of renewed energy. Could it be they are trying to make Victory proud of their recent acquisition? I venture to guess yes on that question. Not only did they write and play the entire album but they actually stepped up to the plate and produced it themselves in their own studio. The Voodoo Glow Skulls are not for the meek. They play fast and furious punk that makes a lot of punk bands look like pussies. They share only one thing in common with ska bands and that is horns. If you have ever heard the Skulls horns then you know that they are as far away from traditional ska as possible. They are only there to help feed the fire and the mosh pit. Their chosen cover is Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs’ catchy track “Little Red Riding Hood. Check out Steady As She Goes. It’s one of the better Voodoo Glow Skulls albums to hit the shelves.
