This nifty little compilation is the result of a friendship between four bands spanning the big ocean. Two from Canada and two from Sweden. The bands met while on tour in Eastern Canada in May 2000 and they felt that they would like to do a project together. Across the Water is the result. The two Canadian bands are Choke and Layaway plan, two of Canada's most promising punk bands, and the two Swedish bands are Astream and Awake. I am not familiar with either of these bands but they sure sound like they rock hard. Adhesive is a little more old school, somewhat remniscent of Canada's own Forgotten Rebels. Astream has a little more happy go lucky sound. The lead singer has a bit of diversity and isn't a screamer. The Choke contributions are two new unreleased tracks and a Screw 32 cover. The Layaway Plan songs are all new and a sampling of what to expect from their new album.
