Tim Armstrong’s (Rancid) label has clocked in a super amount of material in a short period of time. Give ‘Em The Boot is a way to catch up with some of Hellcat’s releases and to find out exactly where Tim is going with the label. When Hellcat was first starting out it was a little more seated in the roots reggae mixed with punk but lately they have been giving it the “Throw against the wall and see if it sticks mentality. Not that there is a whole bunch of new artists (The Distillers, Dropkick Murphys, U.S. Bombs, The Pietasters and Joe Strummer are all here again) but there are some new ones here (Mouthwash, Leftover Crack, and Roger Miret’s (Agnostic Front) new band, the Disasters). As always, the Rancid tracks are always highlights and their “Golden Gate Fields is no exception. If you haven’t heard the album yet, Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros “Global A Go-Go is here in all it’s glory. It is one of the highlights of Hellcat’s past couple of years. Other bands included are Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen’s new band, The Bastards, F-Minus, King Django, The Slackers, Devil’s Brigade, and Tiger Army. For the price, this album should be in any punk fans collection along with the other two installations.
