RecommendMaybe time will vindicate RJD2; maybe in twenty years or so, music historians will look back and say that we were all wrong. Maybe they’ll refute the notion that The Third Hand was a complete and utter disaster, saying that it was instead a compelling and progressive work of genius from one of the finest hip-hop DJs/basement producers/closet pop-stars we’ve heard from over the last five years.
Maybe. I don’t think so, though. What I do think is that if I wanted to listen to a collection of shitty 70s-FM-Lite-Radio rock a la Captain & Tennile and Dr. Hook, I’d order it from one of those annoying cable infomercials hosted by some desperately-botoxed former child actor from “Eight Is Enough: The Lost Years”; that way I’d at least know to expect it to be shite.
