The lyrics on this album are awesome. I love the music too. I like the line "I don't ever wanna drink again, I just need a friend". I kinda wonder if she ever did go to rehab?
her soulful cheated herself voice like she knew she would just shows she puts it all out there. Her voice just sounds wounded. Like Tanya Tucker meets Macy Gray.
Anyone who can describe her stomach dropping and guts churnning sound like something I'd like to stick my dick in has a voice that is trouble, and she tells it like it is.
"What kinda Fuckkery is this, you made me miss the slick rick gig" is something every couple can relate to.
what kind of fuckkery are we? today you don't mean dick to me, I might let you make it up to me?
what kinda fuckkery are you?
I absolutely love the word fukkery, and this album is completely dark. The first 3 songs tell the awful storie of alcohol and it's effect on her life, the rest just lets you in on the guilt.
After listening to this album, I wanna go wake my wife up and say "what kind of fuckkery is this?"...since we're fighting about alcohol and divorce. Thanks amy for the words of wisdom!

I like to imagine that Back to Black would be a suitable soundtrack to my college experiences. I'm a soulful, rule-breaking rebel surrounded by booze and Marlboros, whining beautifully about how I am just too good at seducing men.

In reality, I'm a studious goody-two-shoes who hardly touches alcohol and remains at her boyfriend's side.

We feel a bit the same way with Amy -- her voice just seems too soulful, her lyrics too damaged to be genuine. And yet, she's good enough that we don't care if perhaps we're being fooled. You Know I'm No Good, Wake Up Alone and Back to Black are honestly too enjoyable to not have in your iTunes library.

Amy Winehouse has an amazing voice, different of what you would expect from a female vocalist. She has a raspy background in her voice which gives the music an R&B kind of feel. The horns in the song and the drums also make you feel more deeply into the R&B feel. I cannot actually rate this album, because i have not heard the rest of it yet, but from what i hear from this lovely beautiful woman, i love. I completely agree with the review below by sublogic. This album so far is solid, and a great sophomore release from Amy Winehouse. Her and Lily Allen are so similar to me, but when you listen to them you find them so different. Back To Black is an amazing album, and a must listen for everyone.

“They tried to make me go to rehab, I said no, no, no.” These are the first words out of Ms. Winehouse’s mouth at the begining of her wonderful second effort, Back To Black. When I heard the first single, “Rehab“, I thought it was a new Lauryn Hill track. With Island, Motown, Hip-Hop (Lauryn Hill), and a lot of Shirley Bassey influences, Amy and producers Salaam Remi and Mark Ronson sculpted a nastalgic sound topped with her sometimes raw, sometimes longing, but always believable lyrics. The second track, and newest single, “You Know I’m No Good” is one of my favorite songs of the new year. Also, for anyone who’s heard the latest Ghostface remix album, More Fish, you’ll be surprised how well it weaves between genres and is just as good with The Ironman spitting in between choruses. The blaring horns in the background complete the track and you can’t help but bob your head. “Me & Mr. Jones” and “Tears Dry On Their Own” both have great doo-wop sounds to them that feel like Detroit in 612. Also, it’s said that “Mr. Jones” refers to a now married Nasir Jones AKA Nas. The title track “Back To Black” and the sultry “Wake Up Alone” both have that menacing scourned-lover production that, even while listening, you can’t help but feel a little guilty for whatever dude did her wrong. On the song “Just Friends”, the cool island beat and her musings as “the other woman” give a different spin on the usual cheaters’ tales. “He Can Only Hold Her” and “Addiction” wrap up the album, with the former combining a “Wall of Sound” style with a pretty hardcore drum beat. “Addicted” shows just how differently those involved decided to interpret the sound, with Amy wailing about kicking her man out because he smoked all her green. All in all, Back To Black is one of my favorite soul albums in recent years. I just hope the stories I’ve read about her problems with the “drinky-drink” don’t turn into her into a Pete Doherty-type character. Although I’ve heard rumors of a duet.
