Roar Meanwhile, back in Black Metal, the names change but the sound and subject matter stay solid. Germany’s Nagelfar growl their way through the usual power-point on hell and decay, but with some interesting twists. This is a reissue of the 2001 release by the defunct legends, one that is more straight-ahead bronto-riffing than some of the band’s other, more keyboard and spacey philosophical oriented efforts. Rough and ready riffs with vocals that occasionally turn off the growl and reveal semi-sweet crooning, Nagelfar went out with a big bang here. The songs are sung in German, but who cares? You know “Storm of Catharsis” “Agitation in Palestine,” and “Protocol of Torture” like the back of your hand, and not just because such ya-ya is now being done in your name. This is primal ROCK & ROLL, so lick it up. This is also a quick buyer’s guide as well, as reissue that of a record that is basically the only one you’ll need by the band, unless you like Marillion or Krokus.
