This album doesn't really amount to much. It is fun and poppy, and that is pretty much all it has going for it. Though, these days, that is more than enough on which to build an international career and to become adored by millions of adoring fans. Perhaps that is in the future for this Canadian quintet. The one almost interesting puzzle of the band is their enigmatic lyrics that sometimes nearly emerge into the insightful. The cryptic nature of their lyrics draws you in and creates a desire to understand the meaning of their pseudo-poetics, until you realise that it is really just a bunch of unrelatable personal imagery and trifles that can't be deciphered which are giving the illusion of profundity. These kids, I use that word poignantly, are playing in the sand box of music, and having a damn good time, it seems. Maybe serious minded aesthetes such as myself could learn a thing or two from them, but not from their music.
