Losing At Life is the second full length album from Chapel Hill's Classic Case. This time around they took Page Hamilton into the studio to take a crack at producing, who by the way, did an amazing job. The production is impeccable. Losing At Life is my first foray into the Classic Case world and I'm not sure if I will be heading back there anytime soon. These guys write rock songs of the emo type. They could also be considered pop but Losing At Life just seems to lack substance. It shows potential but the substance just seems to be missing. The songs and arrangements are decent, so I guess it's the hooks that are missing. This is the sort of album where each song kind of blends into the next and you can't really tell where one begins and where one ends. For instance, "Elevator Phobia" is nice on the surface but when you get down to it, it just seems to repetitive. If I had to call out a good track, it would be the last one, "All Of Us Are In Danger", but even there the hooky chorus is missing and closer to the end they just lose it. They need to look to a band like Muse who write along the same lines but manage to incorporate some very interesting twists. Classic Case is just way too predictable.

I don't really see much of a future for Classic Case. They just don't have anything that makes them stand out.
