Ambient pioneers and UK legends return finally, this time as a trio, and inject their drone with a gritty freshness that we didn’t even know we missed. According to the band, they play “dirty ambient,” and this sure is rougher around the edges than most drones. Perhaps it is the band’s Nottingham roots, or just the fact that they are happy to be back out bringing the noise, but this set is abrasive as it is cool, somber as it is angry. OYC slip instantly back into the lead of sharp tangents built off of Eno, like they did right out of the gate in 1982. This is a welcome, edgy addition to any ambient collection, one that is probably even dance-floor worthy.
