Blutch - Materia
Dammit, here is another great metal band. Sludgy and smart, with HUGE riffs, perfect for dusting off Dad’s ‘ludes and partying like it’s 1979. Blutch tend to favor the Sabbath school of metal, to which I say hurrah To listen is to love; “Smile,” “Burst” and “Slaughterhouse” are almost too cool for words, and riff and shred with best of the metal class from any year. They are about to go on tour with Black Cobra and Acid King, which in a perfect world would be hyped heavy on MTV2 like a stray roach at Anna Nicole’s funeral. Slow and soggy, Blutch immediately jumps to the head of the pack in the hunt for the crown the Melvins dropped with bad hair and Kiss covers.
