Alice Schneider fronts this band who aren't even from Texas at all. They come to us through New York City and the music tells the story. The music comes across as a dark and twisted songs that would fade right away if they saw the light (good late evening music). Alice has a great voice that reminds me of PJ Harvey. The songs on the album vary form fairly upbeat to quite somber like the sweet sounding "My Love"and the mellow "On More Time" which could easily be a Cowboy Junkies song. The songs possess a bit of a rootsy feel to them even if it's not intentional. Rounding out the band is Robert Vickers (Go Betweens) on bass and Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave, Sonic Youth) on drums. If this little gem gets in the right hands little miss Alice will have quite a nice future ahead.
