It's awesome when you come across a class act in the metal realm only to discover that they are Canadian. Yes, Endorphins are indeed Canadian and Where Evil Lies is a very impressive album that should put them on the international metal stage. They boys don't waste any time and get right into the heavy with "Flux", a grinding, relentless ditty that will scare off the unsuspecting. Then they open up a little with "Welcome To My Hell", still a powerful song but slightly more accessible. They kind of have a little bit of death metal mixed with some pretty influenced hardcore. Let's just place them in the Metalcore genre. Looking for more of the Swedish influence? Try "And God Sent Suffering" on for size. Right in the middle of the set Endorphins wind down a notch with "26 Hours". It is a little lower key but still has a very dark edge. Don't worry, the bring it back up 10 fold on "Rise & Fall of Lord Hades", probably the most aggressive song on Where Evil Lies.
Canadian legend Ian Blurton takes the production duties and does a killer job. This is one of the heaviest slabs of metal to come out of Canada this year.
