In a beautiful world, Higgs would have the rep of a Bailey or a Frith in terms of his visionary guitar work. While this set is considerably lower-fi than those of some other improv guitarists,
Higgs, known primarily as the frontman for Lungfish, explores deep sonic and spiritual grooves in some ways aims higher than more recognized masters.

Higgs has channeled his visions and experiments into poetry and painting in addition to music; his skills as a polymath attest to the range of his ideas and vision. This release comes with a limited edition hardcover book of paintings, many of which have spiritual themes. The Yggdrasil is the Nordic Tree of Life, and like the Tarot, these improvs riff off many possible meanings of what it means to be alive and strive for enlightenment. Yes, it rocks too His approach is similar to free jazz or musicians like Keiji Haino, in the use of noise and improv to explore and address the holy. On many of these shorts bursts of human power and frailty, his improvs accomplish both.
