Harmonica Slim is the real thing. Mr. Slim (aka Riley Riggins) was 75 years of age when he recorded this, his second album under the Harmonica Slim moniker. Most of the tracks on this brilliant album are Riley originals while there are some amazing covers of Howlin' Wolf, Bobby Bland, Jimmy Reed and Jr. Parker. Most of the vocals are by Riley as well but 4 of the tracks feature Slim's partner Johnny "Da-Doo" Wilson while Slim honks away on his harmonica in the background. Slim has his own impressions of the blues and his songwriting really is superb. Some tracks to note are "Big Leg Woman" and "Coal Black Mare". If you are a fan of the harmonica and original blues then the Harmonica Slim album should keep you happy for a long time.
