RecommendSoulidium is a nu-metal band that has been bubbling under with anticipation for the release of their debut, Children of Chaos. This is a group that formed with the help of a classified posted on MySpace. It was Michael McKnight's vision to create a dark and heavy metal band. This album is not even close. I would have to say that McKnight and crew probably just settled on mediocre. Sure, some songs have sonics like "Crucify" but I can't help but feel that I've heard this all before. "The Light" is the first single and is actually the best track of the set of 12. It kind of has hooks. But come on, what the hell is "Easy Kind of Girl"? It's tracks like this that infuriate me. Cheesy, crappy, shouldn't even have been recorded. For that song alone I'm taking away a star. For that matter, most of these songs shouldn't have been recorded. The only other redeeming song is "Live Forever" with a bit of Eastern influence but again, it just seems all too familiar.
But we all know that mainstream radio has no taste so Soulidium will end up in rotation and numbing the minds of radio listeners.
Note to band: If you can't bring anything new to the table, try again. There is no happiness in mediocrity.

Umm.....yeah. I have seen them live, the singer can't sing, guitars sound BAD. The drummer has talent. Every song has the same progression, the singer can't sing, and their "moves" are straight from the '80's actually, the singer looks more like Freddy Mercury on stage then anything "metal" (if you catch my drift). Oh, let me take this opportunity to laugh at drakkian. "you suck at having taste" This is the kind stupidity you would expect from most of the people who like this crap (not to stereotype).

This band shows originality that most of your other "radio friendly" bands don't exhibit. I'm rather fond of the use of exotic scales, and this band does so not only tastefully but effectively. They're a breath of fresh air that anyone, underground or otherwise, can appreciate. If you don't like this band, there is something seriously up with your musical taste.

I'll step. Children Of Chaos is nothing but contrived shit. There is nothing new here. You may as well head over to Linkin Park if you like Soulidium. I found nothing of merit with these guys. You can have 'em.
