Bouncing Souls are veterans at this punk rock thingy now and with a solid album like the Gold Record they prove it once again. I caught these vets a couple years ago in a live setting and they were so tight. So why didn't I give The Gold Record a spin as soon as it hit my desk? Well, as so many good records do it kept getting bumped down but here it is. And I am so happy that it finally got my attention. There are so many great songs on this album. I felt I was alone in liking Anchors Aweigh but it seems as though people are giving Bouncing Souls the respect they deserve with this album.

Opening the album is the killer "The Gold Song". It's a fast paced track that has a Pennywise feel to it. The slow down slightly for "So Jersey", one of my favorite tracks of the set. Back with the fast on "Sounds Of The City", but some very infectious pop/punk hitting your ears. A track like "Sarah Saturday" just puts a smile on your face. It has that familiar pop/punk feel to it but who doesn't love a feel good, sing along chorus. This is what Bouncing Souls are all about, easy listening, feel good, pop punk. It will make friends with anyone who likes rock music.

A very cool surprise is their cover of the Kinks "Better Things". If you didn't know better you would have thought this was penned by the Souls.

Don't miss out on The Gold Record. This is one of 2006's greatest punk albums.
