Guitar - Dealin With Signal And Noise
Michael Lueckner’s work under the name Guitar has produced great work in a variety of styles over the course of five releases. Here he aims for the minimal droning, shoegazing ambiance, and once again collaborates with singer Ayako Akashiba on several tracks. The result is a nice wash of pop and quietly grooving tracks, that make for good summer listening. Not that this is lightweight stuff; Leuckner always has a few sonic surprises to offer, and there are some interesting changes and suddenly beautiful sections that keep the set interesting.
Akashiba’s dreamy vocals add the right touch of fragile humanity to the tunes in which she appears, but overall this is a warm and inspired piece of deep listening.
