Rising from the stinking but gorgeous corpse of the great Buzzoven, Weedeater are on the prowl with a greasy sludge that is sure to please metalheads and dopers alike. BIG stoopid riffs, power trio cockiness and beer and weed-filled wisdom await the listener; when a record makes you shoot the band to the top of your "must see live" list, you know it is a winner. Seven of the eight tracks were produced by Steve Albini, who not only seems to be everywhere, but always in the right place. Unlike many sludge/stoner bands, Weedeater keep the set short, with only two songs clocking in at over 7 minutes. The real gems are the short bursts of sonic mud: "$20 Peanut" is relevant without being preachy; "Wizard Fight" is Sabbath times 5; "God Luck and Good Speed," aside from having one of the all-time great titles, is fierce and fun, fury and fuck-it. Highly recommended, with or without hookah.
