John Hurt happens to be Bill Morrissey's idol. On making this album he said he wouldn't learn to play the songs note for note as John already did that. He would make them his own just like John Hurt did. What came out was a beautiful set of folky blues songs. All the classic Hurt tunes are here in a new style like "Avalon Blues", "Joe Turner Blues", and "Funky Butt". With the magic Bill weaves, with his acoustic guitar, on the old classics they end up sounding like originals. A great "tribute" effort by Bill Morrissey.
