Mr. Mole is an Alberta based folk band that is able to combine elements of jazz and world music into their sound. The band consists of Mary Cole (vocals, guitar, bass and percussion), Gary Kurtz (vocals, guitar, bass, harmonica, and fiddle), Ward Morton (b vocals, drums, and percussion), and Mel Smith (vocals, guitars, and mandolin). Having everyone participate in the vocal duties leads to a nice harmony. The musicianship on From The Outside is fantastic with a bit of bluegrass sound as well as contemporary folk. If I had to speak about their songwriting I would say that the lyrics need a bit of work although the presentation is there. You can tell that Mr. Mole is a young band and will gain experience over time.
