As my top album of the year, Envy On The Coast‘s debut LP Lucy Gray, by PhotoFinish Records really blew my mind. Once I start listening I cannot stop until I force myself to listen to something else. It is full of songs that I would love to call my favorite, if only I could pick one. Starting out with Sugar Skulls, it leaves you with a strong desire for more. If you want a timeless song, skip right to track three, The Gift Of Paralysis. This song about an apparent tragedy among friends gives you a good feeling inside, the melody is just one of those you can sing to. The outro gets you though, “Throwing punches at ocean waves”. If you want to get into this band, listen to this song first. Two songs on the album, Vultures & Mirrors, really pump you up and don't stop until their over. The vocals on these tracks really show the improvemnt since their EP.
Among the hard-hitters in this album, If God Smokes Cheap Cigars is one of the best. The two separate guitar parts in the beginning are entrancing, never mind Ryan Hunter’s flawless vocals. The two ballads on the album: Starving Your Friends & Lapse, really slow down the album after the overdose of energy from the previous tracks, but in a good way. They are truly indescribably addicting and beautiful songs. This album will for sure make Envy on the Coast's mark in the music industry and they will hopefully keep making music like this for some time.

After hearing the whole album and actually getting to meet && hang out with these guys, you can really tell that they are in this business for the music and not just the fame. Every lyric in every song has a connection && a meaning to the next song, which tells a story. The longlasting effect of wanting more comes every chance you get a break. I cant wait to see where these boys go, i hope its far.

This album is going to blow Envy on The Coast straight to super stardom. Everyone is talking about this album, and no one can stop listening to it. I have heard the single, and a couple other tracks off of this album, and i was incredibly surprised. The vocals have really matured, and grown to a level beyond what i could ever imagine. The music is soothing, and fits with the lyrical styles. Everything these guys wrote on this album (or what i have heard) is easily seen as hardwork, with a lot of time and effort put into it. Great album, and I think everyone should give it a listen, and if not the whole album, just a couple songs, like 'Mirrors'

I have to split this with you...I'm very excited to see where this band goes as well. They've got some big touring action coming up with The Sleep and Warped. Though I'm not completely satisfied with the energy on mirrors as in comparison to most of the first ep I heard off the stream. I still find it to be a nice groove of melodies. This band will either falter or explode on "Lucy Gray".

From what I heard off this record which would only be the song title "mirrors" it is one of the best written songs I have ever heard. Its about a cocaine addict but you wouldnt know that if you did actually listen to it. It starts off slow thinking it was going to be another "green eyes dont lie" track but after the first verse it picks up the tempo and the song is simply amazing. They lyrics are some of the best poeticly written lyrics that have yet to hit the surface of todays music world, you have to listen to the song numerous times to unravle the mysterious lyrics that become of the song. I cannot wait for the full album to drop and I am very excited to see where this band goes. I know they will make it if their whole album is songs like "Mirrors"
