From front to back, this is both Townsend's most ambitious and rewarding project to date. Terria is an atmospheric and progressive metal album that brings all the heavy along with ample doses of melody and mood. The sum is equal to it's parts and each part has been measured and designed to serve a grand purpose. From the quasi-popular single "Earth Day" to my personal favorite (from any band, perhaps), "The Fluke", an incredible 7+ minutes of pure musical bliss. Townsend has a knack for bringing down mountains with his epic songwriting scope, and I dare challenge anyone to find me an album that feels the way Terria does, sounds the way Terria does and impacts the soul the way Terria does. For in the opinion of this reviewer, Terria is absolutely without flaw or chink of armor.
