Jenny oh Jenny you did it again! Under The Blacklight is Rilo Kiley's fourth album and is just about as good as you could have expected from the band. Although Under The Blacklight is a little more main stream that what we are used to from Rilo Kiley it is still a stupendous effort from the former Saddle Creek artist. Jenny Lewis's voice is clear and undeniably contagious on this album. Under The Blacklight will definitely get Rilo Kiley some new fans but, at the same time it may make some fans of her older records scream "sell out" because one of the producers, Jason Lader, has also worked with the likes of Jay-z and Gwen Stefani.

The first track off of Under The Blacklight is Silver Lining the single of the record. Silver Lining is not only well delivered it is also a beautifully put together piece of art. It is followed up by the track Close Call, which is a perfect follow up to the single and a perfect lead into Money Maker. Money Maker is easily the catchiest song on the entire set. It has more of a night club, make-me-wanna-dance type of feel. There really is not a single weak song on Under The Blacklight. Breakin' Up, Under The Blacklight, Dejalo, Smoke Detector, and Angels Hung Around are all amazing songs. There are just a few things that keep this album from being perfect; nothing terribly unique, nothing that seperates this album from her previous ones, and this album is also lacking that illustrious "it" factor. Rilo Kiley's Under The Blacklight is definitely worth every cent and if not for the music then at least for the PURPLE CASE!

This is indie pop at its best with a throwback sound that ranges from the 50s to the new millennium. Dejalo is one of my favorite songs as it is perfect for driving and singing (which of course go hand in hand), but Under the Blacklight and Breakin Up are equally as catchy. What can I say&Jenny Lewis voice is beautifully addicting and she has a great band to back it up. With all of the crappy popular music that is out there, I am amazed that this album hasn't gotten more radio play. Is there something that the movie and TV execs hear in the music that the Programming Directors at radio stations don't?

The lyrics are poetic and edgy as always with past Rilo Kiley albums and I think what separates this album from the rest is it is extremely consistent. One great RK track after another...no fast forwarding here, this album is amazing from start to finish.

I have had time to check out Under The Blacklight and I do indeed enjoy it. I just hopped on the Rilo Kiley bandwagon on the last album but this one has me sold. Great review BTW. Keep up the great work DeathEyes!

Hey Mr. DeathEyes, You need to do a little write-up on this baby. I haven't heard a thing. Is it worth picking up?
