I have never been much of a fan of Linkin Park. I liked Hybrid Theory when it had came out and I heard the singles that came off of it, but that was pretty much my predilection of them. When they released their latest Warner Bros. album Minutes to Midnight i didnt give it a second thought. Then recently, I saw Transormers in the theaters and loved it, but I loved more how Linkin Park’s new single What I’ve Done was incorporated into the movie and how well it went. So then I figured, why not give it a try?

I picked up the album and started listening..I noticed right away, this is not the same old Linkin Park I’m used to. In many senses its harder. Like the guitar parts have more distortion, instead of the more clean cut feeling they went for in 2003’s Meteora. Also, especially in the second track Given Up, front man Chester Bennington really stresses his voice and pushes for a more…post-hardcore sound.

Moving on, the single What I’ve Done and its Michael Meyers style intro into a more classic LP sounding track. The upbeat parts of the song really gets your blood pumping. The next notable track being Hands Held High is definitely my favorite. The vocals are solely Mike Shinoda. I normally don’t feel this way about a song but its actually very--moving. The track basically speaks about war & corruption. Whenever I listen to it I cannot get a line form it out of my head, “When the rich wage war, it’s the poor who die”. I don’t really know anyone who doesn’t like that song.

Next is No More Sorrow, for lack of a better word, a very weird song. The synth in the intro gives that feeling right away, but Bennington actually does a very good job with the vocals in this one. Anyone who looks at this album and doesn’t try it “because it’s Linkin Park”, then I suggest you give it a listen, it’s a very well done album, worthy of being a new-classic.

Amazing, i hate all u haters, from the beginning anthems of "Given Up" to the final guitar solo of "The Little Things Give You Away" LP has changed in everyway but have have crafted a new and masterpiece of an experience in Minutes to Midnight, with newer, softer stuff such as "Leave out all the Rest" & "Shadow of the Day" which is not my favorite but is still exceptional, Then radio hits like "What I've Done" will fill people's ears with glee, and still the harder stuff such as "Given Up", "No More Sorrow", and "Bleed it Out" remain, and then farther down is a melodic ballad concerning war, politics, and the middle east, where Mike Shinoda dishes out the best two verses he's ever dished, ultimately Minutes to Midnight is fucking amazing.

I have heard this album, and it seems like linkin park has gone down in their sytle. I dont really like this album release by them at all, to be completely honest. I was in high hopes, waiting for this album and when it released, i jumped all over it. Now i wish i had just passed it on to the next guy. Hybrid Theory, in my opinion, will be their best album. I could listen to that again and again and never be bored. But with this album, i dont want to tell someone i'm a fan, in fear of them putting on one of the new songs. I just want to know what happened

Quote Symphony: Linkin Park got me into music.

That's what's going on here. It explains a lot. Thanks for sharing that with us.

The songs I heard from this album sounded very generic and much like the old LP i've grown to dislike. Maybe I'll give it a second chance now that I've read this review.
