After three albums titled quite appropriately 1, 2, and 3 Black Heart Procession decides to move away from that titling. They also make a bit of a sound change too. Paulo Zappoli has taken some pages from both Nick Cave and the Tindersticks with his vocal delivery. Amore del Tropico looks at romance and all the emotions involved with the sexy subject. Using the Nick Cave darkness that he does so well, Paulo has no problem tackling the subject of love. Having been around since 1997, the band has really come together and is able to write some amazing compositions. They even manage to get some international feel to some of the tracks like “Why I Stay. Black Heart Procession stick to the mystery of love and all that surrounds it. Some tracks go as far as not even having vocals. It really works with their moody ins and outs. The odd upbeat track is thrown in to wake you out of the spell they have you in. Amore del Tropico is a fine album, ensuring that Black Heart Procession has a permanent place on the indie rock map.
