The Fiancee is the new sophomore effort by hardcore outfit, The Chariot. The album is full of hardcore force that will keep you begging for more. It seems that for their second time around, The Chariot dug deep within the oasis of creativity and brought back the very secrets of making the perfect album. For a hardcore album, The Fiancee is magnificent. It offers something much different than the usual hardcore fast paced album. The entire album flows together so perfectly so it seems like there is one long track. Each instrument is placed perfectly, every chord is carefully planned out along with every vocal track. Josh Scogin does a great job with his vocals on this album. They fit perfectly into every song, showing his range of his screams.
Back To Back is the opening track for The Fiancee, a great choice of songs to open up with. It starts with the raw scream of Mr. Josh Scogin, into the hardcore guitars, drums, and bass that makes this album great. And Shot Each Other is another great song on the album, which shows a great deal of brilliance only 32 seconds into the song. When listening to the album in its entirety, you get the sense of the old country western type of feel. The packaging of the album has all the members dressed up as though they were in the old times. The biggest contributer to this feel, is the little clips of a choir singing at the end of the songs. The Trumpet is a 3 minute long song with the old style chior singing a song to you.
The Chariot succeeded in making a spectacular album for the year of 2007. This could be a winner of best hardcore album of 2007. The Fiancee is a must have album for hardcore fans, you won't be disappointed

Not bad at all, props to Dan for a fine review of some fine hardcore. I wouldn't go so far as to bow down to it, but The Fiancee had to be one of last year's best in it's genre.

The most unique thing about this album is the song titles and the order they are chosen. 'Back to back, they faced each other, they drew their swords, and shot each other, the deaf policeman, heard this noise, then came to kill, the two dead boys, forgive me nashville.' They chose this for a specific reason, because it's an old poem. Great album, very thought out, and very well put out. Even the first lyrics will suck you in. "This is the last chance you get!" And then an explosion of the hardcore sound blows up in your face. Haha, The FiancĂ is an album that WILL NOT be forgotten among hardcore fans. And those who havent even listened to The Chariot are missing out. Give this band a chance and listen to their material a few times through. You'll have a new interest in hardcore music.

Wow, where to start with this record. I have never really been a fan of hardcore, but after hearing a friend talk about The Chariot, I saw that they were coming to a local venue and I jumped blindly into buying the CD. The first things I noticed about the record were A) It's very noticeable fuzzy sound, that sounded like my speakers last time I blew them out and B) It's length of only 29 minutes. I believe this was more due to my newbie-ness to the genre than anything. Why is it so short? Because Josh Scogin does not fuck around. He gets to the point, and he will get to the point in under 5 minutes, guaranteed. Although I have yet to interpret the lyrics, I know that they have something behind them with Scogin writing them. My favorite exert so far is in "The Deaf Policeman" when Josh proclaims "If there's blood on the roots, then there's blood on the branches". Another strange thing in the record is the tracklist; and how it contains a mini-story, each line slightly contradicting the last. After I walked into buying the record, I ventured to the concert, scared of the hardcore dancing that I knew was about to unfold. After sitting through the opening bands, The Chariot came on and put on the most amazing show I have ever seen, leaving the stage in an epic outro that featured a back-tracked chorus singing and a POWERFUL drum solo by a Mr. Jake Ryan. Wow, if The Chariot ever even approach your area, make your way over there, because you will not regret it. Overall: A powerful album from an amazingly talented band.
