Brandston - Trying To Figure Each Other Out EP
This being the first album I had heard from Brandston was a real eye opener. Deep Elm has beencoming out with some pop gems as of late and it seems that Brandston has just slipped by me somehow. The guitar hooks provided by Matt Traxler and Myk Porter (also on vocal duties) are so crisp and well orchestrated - they suck you right in so you hear every melody and harmony ringing from the instrument. The achingly beautiful vocals strain at every edge with a sense of pain and hope. The production, done by the band with the help of Ed Rose, is crystal clear allowing you to get right into the music without interfering. Brandston have created a masterpiece in this little ep. I can hardly wait until they release the follow-up full length.
