An album filled with ambience and a quite piano. Nuno Flipe made a great album if it were for a forgein films soundtrack. The album which is called Seance is like one long trip. The melodic pianos and somewhat electronic feel will sweep you up and give you the sense you are taking on some majestic adventure. Appropriately named the album truely has the feel of a seance. It is somewhat quite and even felt a little mysterious in a way. The first song entitled "No One Knows I'm Here" in which there is no lyrics is a perfect starting point for the album. Filled with a quite piano and a swooning electronic backround type backround puts you in the perfect mood the rest of the album. The third track "Plain" starts with a woman speaking a beautiful forgein language and is carried throughout the song to a quite yet hypnotic melody. The song seems beautiful in a way until you realize how completely unnesessary it is. It really does not even seem as if it is a song. Other songs that caught my fancy such as "Moon Approach" and "Lounge" are truely beautiful and songs that I would consider art. But none the less as I listened to this album over and over it progressively started sounding more and more like background music to a foreign film or some roleplaying video game. If that was truely the case Nuno Filipe made a five-star album. Sadly that is not the case and Seance while sounding like art, is simply not anything someone would WANT to listen. I did not mind listening to it but I sure would not give it another listen because I wanted to.
