Brandston - Dial In Sounds
There is no denying Brandtson’s emo roots but you have to give them credit where credit is due, they sure know how to write a great pop song. They have the songwriting process down pat. I had their damn songs in my head for hours after I finished listening to Dial In Sounds. Just listen to the driving “Some Kind Of Jet Pilot for an example of their catchy lyrics. They use the Pixies style of dropping all instruments except for vocals and bass in this track and man does it work for them. Some of Brandtson’s riffs are dead simple but they are syrupy and sweet. The band is tighter than ever on Dial In Sounds adding even more harmony and lush arrangements. So if the term emo gets your panties in a knot then you must forget all former impressions that you have of the genre. Brandtson is a band that knows how to get their listeners hooked and keep them there until they are through with them. This is a band that is on the verge of breaking. Check out Brandtson before they become the next big indie band.
