It’s really hard to say what I was expecting from the new Breeders album seeing that it has been about 5-6 years since I have even listened to them. With the release of Title TK it presents the first Breeders album since 1993. Steve Albini was chosen as the producer and proves to be a good choice. There aren’t quite as many instantly accessible songs like there were on Last Splash but the Deal sisters have indeed mastered the art of understating a song. The songs are all fairly rhythm oriented and their vocals are almost sung as a matter of factly. Not to say that all the songs are low key. The album picks up a bit when “Too Alivecomes around. The Breeders shoot for a little heavier song and increase the volume if not the speed. Anyone who has ever enjoyed a Breeders album will find joy in Title TK. People who haven’t heard the band before (remember that it has been almost 10 years since Last Splash) should be able to gain an appreciation for the band. Title TK is a nice return to the rock world from the Breeders. Let’s hope it’s not another 10 years until the next album.
