'I see the world in a swirl of hues, but my favorite color is shame'
The words of the track theatre, open up the Gatsby's American Dream album, Volcano. Theatre is the first single from this album and sets a distinct definition of what Gatsby's American Dream sounds like. Talented individuals piled into one alternative rock band making great music. This was my first album being heard from this band, and for a sophomore album, it is spectacular. While the the song may sound a little bit on the darker side rather than happy, it would still get people moving during a live set. Right as Theatre ends, this album leads you right into Pompeii, another good song on this album. Something that I found interesting about this band, is that you could turn off the background music and listen to the vocals. And when you did this, you could still love the sound of the vocals alone. Gatsby's American Dream is a very good sound, and that sound really stands out the most in this album.
Some songs might sound kind of pointless when first listened to, but even if they are pointless little points on the album, they are still beautiful to listen to. For example, the shortest song on Volcano. Meet Me At The Tavern In Bowerstone is only twenty-eight seconds long, but even in those twenty-eight seconds it's easy to fall in love with the vocals and quickness of the band. Your Only Escape starts off a little shaky, but further after the intro, you can find yourself dancing to the music, especially the basslines. But the real beauty in this song must be within the last 50 or 40 seconds of the song.
'I didn't find you, you found me. I hope you got what you wanted.'
Fable is a modern type of sound. And a fact about this song, is that it is based off of the story The Lord of The Flies. 'We came here on a plane, just a bunch of little boys.. Oh oh ohhh--oooo'
To sum up this review, Gatsby's American Dream is a great band with a very special sound to them. I think this band is very underrated, and needs to be heard around the world. I suggest for users who like the sounds of Forgive Durden, the two bands can sound great when listened back to back. This is an album worth listening to, and even purchasing sometime in the near future.
