Unfortunately this was Asie Paytons first and last recording. He died about two years ago of a heart attack. At the rate Fat possum artists are going they aren't going to have any releases in the next millenium. Anyway, it is lucky that Possum was able to get at least some account of Asie Payton. His blues style fits right into anything else that the label has put out but, if possible, a little more heart was put into Worried. Maybe a little more along the lines of traditional blue than some of his labelmates but all the same, he still manages to create that lurchy feeling that Burnside and Kimbrough do so well. The soul comes from Asie's voice. They are so smooth that they could put Otis Redding to shame. One of the finest releases to come out on Fat Possum yet.
