J Robbins is moving forward with his Burning Airlines project. This is a band that formidably takes the place of Jawbox and gives Jawbox fans a crutch for new music. Identikit carries on where 1999’s Mission: Control leaves off. It carries the crunchy and yet melodic music that Jawbox fans came to love and respect and so many other bands have tried to copy. Burning Airlines take on a very dark overtone on a couple of tracks like the album closer "Dear Hilary" but for the most part the album is very upbeat and driving. The track "Paper Crowns is one of the best tracks to ever come out of J Robbins since Jawbox’s For your own special sweetheart. Should J Robbins stick to producing instead of doing his own music? Not if his output is going to keep up this quality. Robbins is a very talented musician as well as producer. It’s no wonder that Burning Airlines is such a quality product.
