Pinback is on the verge of popularity with the acceptance and critical praise over Summer In Abbadon. Autumn of the Seraphs is the follow-up the aforementioned album with a Rob Crow solo effort in the middle of the two. When solo albums end up coming out between albums it can signal good things for a band. The album was again produced by the Rob / Zach duo and maintains that very interesting harmonious glory.

I was a new Pinback listener when Summer In Abbadon was released so you can imagine my joy at finding such a wonderfully new sounding indie pop band. The release of Autumn means that I now have to decide which album I like more. This isn't an easy choice for obvious reasons. Summer was such a great all around album but Rob and Zach are not one's to sit back and redo what they've already done. This means forward and that's just where Seraphs is moving. Tracks like "Good To Sea" have such a great happy feel to them.

At first listen I wasn't impressed with "Subbing For Eden" but after a couple goes I was sold on it's lovely chorus. Makes up for the rest of it. Look to "Bouquet" or "Barnes" for a feel of where Pinback is heading with this release.

So as a result, I am impressed with Autumn of the Seraphs. It took a couple listens to arrive at this conclusion though and I believe that it is because this album is more diverse than previous Pinback efforts. Pinback fans should be please with the end result and those curious should check in here but give Autumn a couple listens before making judgement.

You can slow Rob Crow down either. Rumor has it that another Goblin Cock album is slated for release soon.
