Some things just never change. The sun sets towards Cali, the stars still inspire awe and Turbonegro are still Turbonegro. There's something to be said for longevity; these guys have been sweating out their blend of punk, glam and classic rock for longer than many ever expected. Retox takes major strides to prove a point; why fix it if it ain't broke?
You'll know just who you're listening to quick, as the early songs set the typical pace of punk-rock grooves, glam sleaze and fist-pumping arena rock riffing. Shameless as ever regarding the wearing of their influences on their sleeves, Turbonegro are as refreshing a reminder of what rock and roll is all about as they've ever been. "Welcome to the Garbage Dump", "Hell Toupee" and "You Must Bleed/All Night Long" are some of my favorites, pure adrenaline-pumping 'deathpunk'.
No surprises; a complaint or a recommendation? That all depends on your current position on the band. Of course there will be many who claim their one-trick pony to be dead and buried, and of course this style of music is mostly reserved for nostalgic trips back in time via classic rock radio. But plenty is to be said for their persistence and middle-finger mentality. Frankly, Turbonegro couldn't care less if you like Retox or not; as the final (bonus) track "What is Rock!?" proclaims: "The money, the money, the money money money." You'll be glad to give them yours.

Yeah, a little short but I think you could pull up reviews for older Turbonegro albums and use them for this too.

Great review! I couldn't get this one into words so I had to send it off. Been a fan for a long time.
