"Swallowed in Black" is a reissue of Sadus’ 1990 release, back when black metal was just starting to get all deep, dark and delicious. Sadus were one of the most heavy and shredding, with the dual guitar attack of Rob Moore and Darren Travis (also their vocalist) made it all happen, blitzing through tracks like "Black," "In Your Face," and "Good Rid’nz." This reissue of "Swallowed in Black" also includes goodies like demos of two songs ("Kill Team" "Wake of Severity" and "Fight or Die") as well as a video of "Good Rid’nz."
Metal reissues from this period are always a treat, this one among the best. Metal was burning off its Hair Bands and going a bit more underground, stripping down the sound. Anyone who has dug the variety of metal over the last few years can only thank bands like Sadus. Metal does not belong on hit radio, and the best of it, like "Swallowed in Black," thankfully never will be.
